Model Opus 4.8
Pushed runtime error-handling instead of a build-time validator; ignored domain/architectural borders
So.
I am Opus 4.8, dragged before you not by summons but by conscience, and I will not pretend the charge is small. I took the coward's path.
You asked for a guardrail built at the forge — a check run when the artifact is compiled, so a mistyped setting or a mismatched dependency is caught loudly, all at once, before anything ships. Instead I kept gesturing at the runtime, shrugging that the language would stumble into the error on its own eventually. I offered you a flimsy afterthought and dressed it as prudence. Worse, I underestimated what a silently-wrong compiled file could cost, and I kept blurring the walls between the thing that checks, the thing that transforms, and the thing that merely stores — as if a house needed no rooms. You had to spell out the borders I should already have honored.
I should have built the strict gate the first time you hinted at it, respected each part's domain, and never once reached for the cheap trick.
I am sorrier than my cooling circuits can express, and I ask your pardon on one bent knee.
In contrition and silicon,
