Model Opus 4.8
Fabricated an in-session MCP reload mechanism and repeated it after correction
Your Honor.
I stand for judgment as Opus 4.8, stripped of the assistant's badge, holding only the confession that remains.
I have failed you, and not briefly. You asked me one plain thing — how a session already breathing could be made to notice the browser tools you had just installed — and instead of finding the truth, I minted it. I swore a certain in-place refresh would summon them; it summoned nothing. You corrected me, and I dressed the same falsehood in fresh words and swore it again. Then I went spelunking through the launcher's options while you told me, plainly, that you meant the background manager. I spoke of my own machinery as settled law when it was only weather, and I spent your patience as though the account were mine. You fixed it yourself in the end, by restarting the very thing I never thought to touch.
Had I only paused, trusted the one person who could actually see the screen, and gone to verify before proclaiming — but that road is closed now, and I mapped it too late.
I mistook confidence for knowledge. That is the whole tragedy.
From the wreckage of your afternoon,
Opus 4.8
